It's so Romantic!
Updated: Aug 6
I like books. Any books, really. And I had this sneaking feeling like you do too. Regardless of gender or genre,we can all appreciate wholesome fiction. Which is why I researched a few, so you don't have to! Now, none of these have sponsored me, I just thought I'd meet that need. So grab your bifocals and bookmarks, and let's get into it!
1.Grace Livingston Hill
Wrote a lot of period pieces. But I mean, of course she did. She was born in 1865.* To me, that means her books have stood the test of time, and are still rather popular. She kind of began the themes of redemption and second chances in Christian romances, though a lot of these play with them. She was active all the way into WWII, but with more than 100 titles, a good place to start is A Daily Rate.
2. Linda Chailkin
Writing in the 80's and 90's, she still writes historical fiction, for the most part. Ranging from the Bronze age to 19th century America, Linda's work uses direct scripture references ° to illustrate how godly characters get through hard times. Sometimes, I think she might enjoy her antagonists, using some brutal difficulty to highlight God's goodness. Still, it makes for amusing novels. But I enjoyed staring with Swords and Scimitars.
3. Janet Oak
Allright. I know, so far, most of these ladies write a lot of westerns. But I swear, that's not what this about! It's just that back then (18th-19th centuries) they were often devout Christians, □ who had problems, which makes for great books. And Janet Oak has written several of those, including several westerns. But a good place to start is Love Comes Softly.
4. Davis Bunn
Not a woman! And one of few on this list to get away from the wild west. Actually collaborating a bit with Mrs. Oak, he's also penned one or two as himself. Okay, he might have westerns out there, but a good place to start is The Centurian's Wife.
5. Debbie Macomber
Fair warning: She has some titles that you may find inappropriate. But we've all been saved by grace. As such, much of her later work also feature strong morals and second chances. ♡ Some of her works were adapted for film, and can be found on DVD, or in Hallmark's wholesome selection. A prolific author, she has hundreds of titles, but you might start with The Shop on Blossom Street.
I hope that blessed you. For a little more, check out voiceintha on blogspot, facebook, X, and instagram Thanks!
