That's So Random
We say that a lot. But not only does it have almost as much meaning as "Yeah, I'm fine," people of faith should give far less credit to chance. But what exactly does it mean? And is it problematic? Well, by coincidence, I've done some research, so you don't have to. Which means we can move forward as planned. So let's get into it!
First off, an explanation. You know you've been waiting for this. Anyway, for something to be truly, scientifically random, there can't be any mathmatical sequence of events that led to it happenning. Which, kind of ironically, doesn't happen. I guess "statistically spontaneous" just doesn't roll off the tongue.
On to the next bit. It's problematic because it undermines our faith. People often say that without thinking. But over time, it takes root, and we think less of things being ordered, let alone for our good. Almost like somone planned it that way.
So, what can we do about it? Well, first and foremost, pray. God will never give you a job He won't also give you strength for. Next, try saying "That's strange." Which has the same idea, just more intentional. And hold fast, replying to others who say it with "Praise God." And embrace that, whatever happens, He'll use it for our good.
I hope that blessed you. If so, please consider buying me a cup of coffee, to keep me going.
