Stranger Than Fiction?

Okay, that's a tad backwards. I discuss fiction a lot. But see, stranger than most popular fiction just doesn't have the same ring to it. Now, a lot of folks say that all movies today are copies of copies. And while that's somewhat true (Ask me about Twilight!) I've researched several very original stories in movies, so you don't have to. And with that, dim the lights, pop the popcorn, and let's get into it!

1. Remory

This one is pretty dark. Both because of it's mood, but also, all the shots are overcast. Then again, it is a murder. Well, certainly mystery. Peter Dinklage stars as a man who steals a machine to relive past events in perfect detail. This allows him to find the killer, but should we remember everything? See for yourself! 7 of 10. Available on Plex and Google.

2. The Portable Door

Rather whimsical, this comes from some of the minds behind The Dark Crystal. A hapless inventor finds himself getting a job he didn't seek, after an interview he didn't arrange. Only to discover a secretive company, making things like doors to anywhere, that can fold like paper. And these are just the opening points. If you enjoy the impossible, this one's for you! 10 of 10. Available (sometimes) on Tubi, and on Prime.

3. The Fare

Ever feel like you're on a road going nowhere? Well, this film's taxi driver really is. Except, every trip, he forgets. Until one night, he picks up a beautiful woman, and starts to remember. But he keeps repeating, not reaching her destination. Why this is, and who they are might just boggle your mind. 6 of 10. Available on Tubi, Pluto, and Plex.

4. Johnathan

There have been hundreds of "Buddy" movies, and titles where one actor plays two different carachters. And this one is both of those, yet neither. Johnathan was born with a rare condition, where twin brothers share a body. One gets days, the other nights, collaborating thrugh videos recorded before they swap. Everything is fine, until they fall in love with a girl who has no idea. Two brothers, with one body, and one girl. Things get complicated. 8 of 10. Available on Tubi , Youtube, and Pluto.

5. Jules

This one's weirdly relatable. An old man has few friends, and a struggling relationship with his daughter. So, his life is mainly complaining at city council meetings. But one day, he complains that a being from space crashed in his yard, crushing his Azalea bush. Only, that actually happened. Now while he to cares for an alien refugee, his strange behavior draws in people who care about him. These people also talk to and bond with the silent alien, who they name Jules. But as the government seeks the downed ship, adventure ensues! 10 of 10. Available on Kanopy and Tubi.

I hope that blessed you. If so, please consider buying me a cup of coffee, to keep me going.
