Pray for the Nation
Updated: Aug 6
Okay, so, you might already know that Romans is a letter to the Isrealites in Rome, telling them stuff about how to keep obeying God after Christ changed everything up, and how to live in the pagan Roman empire. So, it's actually super relevant for first world Christians today. I've researched a few reasons why that is, so you don't have to. Because God blessed those who hunger and thirst for righteousness.(Matt. 5:6) If that sounds like you, let's get into it!
The fact that America even exists shows the grace of God*. From before our founding, this land has depended on His generosity and kindness. And that's why, we really need to keep our focus on Him. He set us on a path, and only He can help us finish it.
And that means it's okay, even good, when we're hurt by the way so many contemporary Americans (And honestly, the wider world.) just don't believe. We have so much Godly heritage**, and "Blessed is the nation whose god is the Lord." (Psalm 33:12) So the way that most of people are just ignorant of that is depressing.
So finally, I feel like wherever we go, Christians should always recognize that our main allegiance*** is to God, through Christ. As I write this, I'm living in America. And being here, I've recieved so much. Or, to borrow from the Latin,^I'm blessed. But if I woke up in Tokyo tomorrow, I would still be greatful to the giver of every good thing. And that's the key. No matter where we are, or what we might not have as far as things, it's important to be thankful to God, who died to set us free.
