Positively Perfect Pallela

As I've made clear, and you may have heard, this is a time of year when a lot of Christians fast, in an effort to grow closer to God. I thik I mentioned somewere, a common form of fasting is to avoid red meat. In medieval times, they thought fish didn't count, as they don't have blood. Anyway, it's a whole thing, which I've researched, so you don't have to! I've also researched some super tasty seafood recipes, perfect for this kinda thing. But I'm making myself hungry. Are you hungry? Let's get into it!

This is a Spanish classic I learned about while living on the third coast. While I’m gonna lay out a fairly standard recipe, the beauty of it is that, within a couple simple rules, you can make this with whatever meats or vegetables you have on hand. Those rules are, it should always have tomatoes and some kind of seafood. They give a lot of the character. Anywho, that recipe is as follows:

1 cup fully cooked ham, choppd

1 cups chopped grilled chicken

2 cups cooked salad shrimp

1 carrot, chopped

1 can olives

1 can diced tomates

11 oz. fully cooked rice

cumin & chili powder to taste

In a large skillet, start by sauteing the ham in olive oil. Once that’s started to brown, add the chicken. Add the shrimp last, letting it get a little color. This lets all the flavors of the meats combine, but the shrimp takes less time, because it’s kinda delicate.

Once all your meats are in, add your carrot, since that’s the slowest to cook. After that has golden brown edges on it, you can add in your olives and let the juice cook down for a bit, before doing the same with your tomatoes. Go ahead and add your spices while those cook down, so they get all mixed in. Once the liquid is just above the top of the olives, add the rice, and stir!

Depending on your taste, you might wanna let it cool. But don’t wait too long! the rice will soak up the juices, and become a gross sludge. At this point, it’s ready when you are. So, take off your apron, maybe wash your hands, and then serve it up in bowls. I reccomend adding hot sauce at the last minute, but you coul use salsa, or peppeers, or just enjoy. Bon appetit!

I hope that blessed you. If so, please consider buying me a cup of coffee, to keep me going.
