No Condemnation
Tiny update! This is what I hope will be the start of a new series, where I dig into explaining popular scriptures. For now, I'm opening things up with the beginning of the 8th chapter in Romans, though I hope to expand later. As usual, I've done the research, so you don't have to. So buckle your shoes, folks, hang on tight, and let's get into it!
Firstly, we gotta go backwards. The first word in the first verse is "therefore," which means, for this reason. But if we wanna see what reason, we need to look at the last verse of the previous chapter. Doing that, we find the tail end of Paul's monologue about the flesh not behaving how the spirit knows he should. He then rejoices that Christ broke the cycle.
And that's the reason why there's no condemnation in Christ. Because once we accept Him, we're now free to live guided by the Holy Spirit in our spirits. He goes on to explain how human laws and systems serve a purpose, but they're made weak by the simple fact that there's no true righteousness outside of God, who is Christ Jesus.
So he goes a bit further, pointing out how thinking the way you used to do is killing you. Because, before you met Jesus, all you knew was this world, bent by Satan. And that guy is so mad at God, he wants to break all His things, and hurt you (along with everyone else) forever. Which, he sort of can, because God gave Satan a tiny grasp on controlling stuff.
But not all of it, by any means. And following along with Paul, if You've truly accepted that Jesus died and rose on the third day, you're His now. Which means you've been given the strength to see stuff you used to think was awesome, and go, "I know better." And as we do that, we'll live better. Forever.
The whole chapter is 37 verses, and this was just a look at the first 9. Even so, I hope it cleared some things up, and I'd like to share more later. But until next time...
I hope that blessed you. If so, please consider buying me a cup of coffee, to keep me going.
