Movies in Minutes
By now, you've probably all heard about Sinners, Frankenstein, and whatever else won an Ocar this year. But without unpacking all the problems with those, they're roughly 3 to 4 hours long! I personally want something wholesome that also doesn't require me to forward my mail to the theatre. And to that end, I've done some research, so you don't have to. Not only are these all less than 20 min, none of them have sponored me. Still, if that sounds good, butter your popcorn, grab a drink, and lets get into it!
1. Multiverse Dating For Beginners
Did I already talk about this one? Maybe I just enjoy time loops. Anyway, while exiting a party, Ivy meets Dave. They hit it off, and things go well, until she gets cold feet. Throwing a scarf over her shoulders, she finds herself exiting the party again. She meets Dave again, but her scarf seems to trigger a time loop. They like each other, but is she stuck looping forever? Do they date anyway? Is it all a big alien conspiracy? See for yourself! (One F-word)
2. The Portal: Rift World Chronicles
More of a fantastic tale, this begins with a mage walking through a portal that appears behind a chinese resteraunt. In downtown, preset day Ontario. When he realizes this, he tries to re-open the portal, but can't. He looks for help, finding himself at a travel agency. There, he tries to convince a lonely, jaded agent of his plight. She thinks he's crazy, and ushers him to the elevator. He seems to think he can open a portal in there. She starts to break for lunch, before having second thoughts and rushing back. Maybe he wasn't crazy? Go on, and find out!
3. The Leap
Set in the distant future, this one is emotional, though uplifting. Far fetched, yet relatable. After an intro explaining a planet-wide refugee crisis, we see a swat raid, where an officer rescues a young girl. Years later, the same officer hires an escot. But she turns out to be the little girl, offering him a second chance. A story about redemption, kindness, and the end of everything. You're gonna have to watch it yourself, it's a big story told in a short time. Enjoy!
4. Long Branch
The most grounded of these, This one does have one F-word in the first 30 seconds. But otherwise, it's not only sqeaky clean, but the story is a heartwarming display of authentic chastity. A couple is hooking up, when she asks to go back to his place. He explains, he doesn't have a car. She says that's okay, so they run and catch a bus. The first bus, it turns out, in his commute across the province. (State.) Will she get exhausted? Was he just looking to get lucky? Does the bus even go that far? Find out for yourself!
5. Iteration 1
Did I already talk about this one? Maybe I just enjoy time loops. Anyway, while going about her morning, Anna's situation just resets itself. She's in an oddly partitioned and sterile futuristic cell, with one door. It resets every 50 seconds, but eventually, she learns to make it through the door in that time. She finds a series of challenges, which she overcomes alongside past iterations of hersef. She even learns to hold conversations by asking questions, which future her will answer. But is she forever alone? Will she beat the challenges? How big is the grid? Watch, and see for yourself!
I hope that blessed you. If so, please consider buying me a cup of coffee, to keep me going.
