More Instrumental Artists

Hey,gang! I've written some stuff about the good of instrumental music. And I mentioned 5 already! Read Music to my Ears if you haven't yet. But in case you just didn't like those, I did some research to find five more, so you don't have to. While not neccescarily Cristian, these are super wholesome, though not my sponsors. Anyhow, keep your dial right there, and let's get into it!

1.Arthur Benson

A contemporary artist with a flair for the whimsical, you probably know his work, even if you don’t know it! His music is often featured in comercials for popular stores like the Depot of Homes, and brands like Farm State, as well as shows and movies. That said, he also releases albums, including one that isn’t your parents Christmas music. A personal favorite is I Have a Plan, Mr. Norton, and you can find his music on Epidemic Sounds

2.David Brubreck

Recording throughout the1950’s and 60’s, this man is an under appreciated jazz powerhouse. He led a quartet of impressve musicians from the piano, and recorded a rather large body of work. Most of their music is upbeat, though they do have some slower pieces. Great to work to, or just leave on in the background. A personal favorite is Take Five, and you can find his music on Columbia Records, Sony Music, and more.

3.Bonnie Grace

Similar to that first entry, Bonnie’s work has appeared several places, but few people know it. Unlike Benson though, where his stuff is contemporary and whimsical, hers is more classical and dramatic. She has one album, Black Sails, that’s a pirate soundtrack for your day. But a personal favorite of mine is The Wedding Feast, and you can find her music on Translation Studio or Epidemic Sound.

4.Penguin Cafe (Orchestra)

Combining electronica with traditional instruments, they blended pop, folk and jazz elements through the 80’s and 90’s With such an unusual mix, they still managed to put together familliar music, that’s just fun to listen to. Their stuff is more energetic though, so keep that in mind. A prsonal favorite is In the Meantime, and you can find their music on E.G. Records, Virgin Records, and Polydor

5.Hans Zimmer

Once again, you probably hum this guy’s work without even thinking. But because He’s been such a big deal in Hollywood, you might know his name. He’s done movies about Gladiators, or Pirates in the Carribean. Back in the 80’s and 90’s (Again, I know.) he did romance movies, and dramas. But everything he does is all just really catchy! So don’t be surprised if it gets stuck in your head. A personal favorite is You’re so Cool, and you can find his music on Remote Control Productions, Sony Music, and Watchtower Music.

Bonus! Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra

Often known as simply T.S.P.O, these cats are really somewhere between ska and jazz. And performing in both English and Japanese, they’re not exactly instrumental. That said, the album Tokyo Blue is mostly instrumental. And unless you speak Japanese, you’ll probably tune out what they say. A personal favorite is You’re Not Alone, and you can find their music on Avex Trax, Sony Music, and Epic Records.
