Godly Wabi-Sabi
Okay, so that's a design philosophy. What you might call a "Look." Like grunge, or shabby-chic, so to speak. But this one in partcular is a bit more Godly. "How is that?" You may well ask. Well, that's a great question, campers! And it's one that I've researched, so that you won't have to. Which is cool, 'cause the answer will probably bless you. So go ahead, lace up your boots, and let's get into it!
First up: What is Wabi-Sabi? Well, at the risk of repeating myself, it's a design philosophy. A system of things you believe. This one's from way back, in ancient Japan. Because it's good to learn from folks who came before us, man.
Just like grunge* appreciates stuff getting worn, and having fades or holes. And Shabby chic** tries to make the best of those. But Wabi-Sabi is unique, because it actually tries to fix and improve things***. A famous example is the mending of broken porcelain teacups, so that they're once again usable things, but using solid gold, to maximize their beauty.
Of course, there's no practical necessity for cups to be fixed with gold. It kind of feels a little bold. Because the idea serves two purposes. Not only is the broken thing still useable, you wanna use it, because it's just so beautiful.
The thing is, that's what God does with us. You know that verse about "Beauty from ashes?" (Isa.6:13) Well, that's how He does His miraculous thing. He could, obviously, just patch us together, and let well enough be. But when did well enough ever slow God down from anything? Sure. It might be hard, and we might start to close to the forest to pick out individual trees. But my God is the master of exceedingly, abundantly. And you were wonderfully made.
I hope that blessed you. For a little more, check out voiceintha on blogspot, facebook, X, and instagram Thanks!
