Family Friendly Fantasy

I've been working super hard to come up with recipes, either meatless or fish based  (which doesn't really count. ) But I'm taking a kind of a break and instead,  I've researched another list of things,  so you don't have to!  Now, I may have mentioned a couple of titles already, but didn't worry! I'm still not sponsored by them. I just thought you might enjoy this stuff as much as I do. But hey, either way,  let's get into it!

1. Dwight in Shining Armor

Yeah, I'm bringing up this one again. Still, as far as television goes, it's very nearly perfect. In case you haven't looked into it yet, it's about a bumbling, over-achieving teenager who falls in a hole, and lands on a princess. This leads to him serving as her champion, and the next five series are filled with the hijinks that occur when a magical realm collides with modern day. Watch every episode on BYUTV!

2. Redwall (animated)

Based on Brian Jaques best selling novels, this cartoon show chronicled the first two (Or three) books. Set in an abbey filled with woodland creatures, the focus is Mathias. A field mouse himself, he's inspired by another fieldmouse, Martin the Warrior. Martin defated Cluny the (Rat) Scourge. Later, in Mathias day, a threat approaches the innocent abbey dwellers once again. You can watch this on D.V.D (My local library has it.) or Kanopy.

3. Beyond The Mask

Another title I'm repeating, this one isn't exactly fantasy. But it is totally wholesome swashbuckling! An Assassin in Britain, 1775, our hero is nearly killed in an attempt to murder the king. He takes the opportunity, and starts a new life as a mercenary/vigilante of sorts in the New world, only to have his old life follow him. What unfolds is a story about honor, second chances, adventure, and romance. It's currently available on Tubi.

4. A Wizard of Earthsea

Earthsea is a long-running series of novels, and they may not all be apropriate. I'm really not sure. But as an intro to the stories, this volume appeared, and became a film. A young farmboy is abused and poor, because he's diferent. But one day, a wise stranger explains that he has a gift, he's the last wizard. And as he trains this gift, he learns valuable lessons before having to save his world. An original take on a beloved storytelling trope. Right now, it's on Tubi, under Earthsea.

5. The Chronicles of Narnia (B.B.C.)

You might know the story about a lion, a witch, and a wardrobe. You may have even seen the first movie (Yes, there are three.) But in 1991, the British Boadcasting Company decided to film, as a series, all seven books. Long before computer animation, these are filled with practical effects. And they were aimed at children. But diving so deep into C.S. Lewis' epic saga is an experience you won't soon forget! You can find it on Blu-ray, DV.D, Youtube, and Amazon Prime.

I hope that blessed you. If so, please consider buying me a cup of coffee, to keep me going.
