Cross Purposes

Everything ever depends on Christ's death, burial, and ressurrection. But to so much of our modern world, it's like it never happened. Except God knew that people would resist, and so He planned for that. And I've researched* various ways that shows in the crucifiction, so you don't have to. Honestly, His mercy can surprise us sometimes, but exploring it is always beautiful. So, come along with me, and let's get into it!

To those who reject scripture, the cross is nonsense. It literally doesn't make sense. And because they refuse to understand grace, they've already perished. The thing is, "God is not wiling that any should perish."*So, at the same time, the Cross confounds those who go looking for human accomplishment. They want some massive, visceral spectacle. But salvation came through a humble carpenter, suffering a criminal's death.

The skeptics, of course, doubt everything. But stuff like the mysteries of faith just blows away those of us who believe. How much more so, then, people who always question the simplest of things?

And those who long for unity through diversity may be some of the worst examples of vanity. The togetherness they want is okay, it's really the way life should be. But we really can't hope to get there by stuff humans can do. Actually, it's the grace of the Father through Christ Jesus has given us exactly everything that we need.

Having said all that, though, one thing we (And everybody else.) Needs is the Gospel. A lot of folks haven't rejected it, they just haven't heard it. Which is why, after rising from the dead, Jesus gave us The Great Commission.*** Where He tells believers to tell, literally, the rest of the world. Seriously, He thinks of everything.
