A Thirst for Adventure

Sometimes it's good to curl up and get cozy. But other times, a bit of adventure is nice, when you just need excitement. Even without leaving the couch. And if you're in the mood, I did some research, so you don't have to. Now I'm warning you, things might be dangerous. But if you dare, let's get into it!

1.G.A. Henty I've definitely mentioned this guy before, but he deserves a re-visit. He lived in the early 20th century, but was fascinated by history. So, he is a bit heavy handed to modern readers. But he also has a unique ability to transport the audience into the fray of whatever his protagonist is going through. Be that King Richard's crusades, or the Wild West, Henty deserves a spot on your reading list.

2. Anthony Horrowitz Way more contemporary. In fact, he's still writing today! With a talent for building characters and burying leads, he's known for mystery series like Foyle's War, but this also lends to spy thrillers, such as Alex Rider. Sure to spice up your bookshelf, give this guy a shot.

3. Louis L'amour Writing from the 30's to the late 80's, he specialized in westerns. Ranging from single page short stories to long running sagas, he helped define the genre throughout the late 20th century. The films with Tom Selleck and Sam Elliot are respectable adaptationss. Whatever you do, don't miss this one!

4. Larry Burkett Author of Debt Free Living, he' best known for running Christian Financial Concepts. Mr. Burkett gave some of the best, Christian, financial and life advice in the last half century. But he also wrote a number of novels, including Illuminati and Solar Flare. Compelling stories, these explore weighty concepts, remaining wholesome while not sounding "preachy." A rare gift, and one you shouldn't overlook.

5. Brian Jacques Coming in last, this author wrote from the mid 80's through the early 2,000's. While he wrote cookbooks, ghost stories, and swashbucklers, his clame to fame was coining the genre Cozy Fantasy, with his Redwall series. But don't let that fool you! Those books will have you on the edge of your seat, when you're not tearing up. They're emotional roller coasters. But as long as you're ready for that, he's a terriffic pick!

I hope that blessed you. For a little more, check out voiceintha on blogspot, facebook, X, and instagram    Thanks!
