8 Keys to Happiness
Every Tuesday, I break down doctrine, usually by picking apart a certain word. And while today is basically that, It's also gonna be a bit different. I'll be sharing life advice from the author of life Himself. Because, I just learned what an important word means. A word that I've researched, so you don't have to. But don't worry. I won't keep dragging out your anticipation. Instead, let's just get into it!
That word i mentioned earlier, and that I'm fixing to talk about is Makarios. It's the Greek word Matthew used, and it means fortunate, congratulated, or just happy. So yes, bleesed are the meek. They're fortunate, they'e well-off. Good for them. But the point I'm trying to make, that Jesus was trying to make, is they're Happy.
So now, the point of the title. The world says three things make you happy. Health, wealth, and being numb. Whether through drugs, drink, sex, or any combination of those. But not only will anybody who's tried those knows that they don't work, Jesus gave a great presentation about how to actually be happy.
It's kind of scary, really. For this to work, you have to let youself get hurt. He gave 8 tools: Humility, Mourning, Meekness, The desire for righteousness, Being merciful, Purity, Making peace, and Suffering to serve Him. The outside says that winning, and having stuff, and not regretting how you got there makes you happy. But the Inventor of Happiness flips that, and says that if you just enjoy what you got, and let yourself cry sometimes, you'll be truly happy.
That doesn't mean you have to take abuse every time. He also said to be wise as serpents, harmless as doves. The thing is to gauge, when to shout and when to be silent. Humility means respecting authority, and meekness is not acting like you're all that. But basically, if we just appreciate God's gifts, when and as He gives them, we can be really, truly happy.
I hope that blessed you. If so, please consider buying me a cup of coffee, to keep me going.
