5 Inspiring Authors
So, the Bible is the best book ever. It's literally the way God talks to us all the time, in every situation. But sometimes, it's confusing. How do we get new life by washing with blood? Fortunately, there are people smarte rthan me, who write other books about what the Bible teaches. And because those can be hard to find, I researched some, so you don't have to. They all share teachings, though some do it with novels. Alright. Sound good? Let's get into it!
1. Bourgham
Frank William Bourgham wrote stuff around 1913, in Victorian England. His work might feel a little stuffy, but it's more clear than, say, ancient Hebrew. More importantly though, he explains biblical ideas in a way that makes you think. I barely scratched the surface of his writings, but I love The Passionate Few.
2. G. L. Hill
Grace Livingston Hill is actually older (1865) But maybe it's because she's American, I find her easier to understand. Also, she's a novelist. Even so, her writings meditate on the struggle of good against evil, and the power of grace. I admit, I've read fewer of her collection, but I enjoyed A Daily Rate.
3. Brother Lawrence
I know less about this man, a monk writing in 1508. In fact, that's the only name I know him by. Also, he didn't write much, as he was probably rather busy with abby life. That said, his one short book entirely changed the way I believe-The Practice of the Presence of God.
4. G.K. Chesterton
Gilbert Kieth Chesterton was a prolific author, although you may have never heard of him. He wrote about religion and aplogetics, and while you may be unfamiliar with his writings on Orthodoxy, there's a better chance you've heard of his characters, like Father Brown, espcially due to the telvision series. He worked a lot of biblical ideas into all his stories, but I personally love The Princess and the Goblin.
5. Frank Morrison
The assumd name of Albert Henry Ross, who is known primarily for advertising, and wrote in 1938, making him the most recent name on this list. An unbeliever, he set out to disprove the gospels using the new science of forensic anthropology. Instead, he found confirmation that changed his life, and recorded his findings in Who Moved the Stone, and What Pilate Said.
