5 Awesome Animations

You're probably thinking, "Cartons are for kids." And sure, from the 1940's through the 90's, they mostly were. But moving towards 2,000 we saw shows like South Park and Futurama, which definitely aren't for kids. And while today's examples are family friendly, a lot of the humor speaks to older audiences. A lot of these are through Angel Studios, but it's not sponsored. I just did the research, so you don't have to. So grab the popcorn and a blanket, and let's get into it!

1. The Tuttle Twins

This one is hard to pin down. Based off a sociology textbook for home schooled 5th graders (Let that digest.) It introduces kids to concepts like Marxism and Solvent Currency from a consevative stance. As well as lemonade stands and time-travelling racoons. I watched in college, and I learned a lot from this. Entertaining for everybody, this can be found on Angel Studios.

2. Corner Gas Animated

A sort of spin-off from a well loved Canadian comedy series, this one leans hard into things only cartoons can do. Meaning, the original cast gets frozen in ice, or falls through ceilings. But look out for cameos from famous Canadians, like Neal Patrick Harris or Jim Carrey. I personally enjoyed the word play, such as conversations about rebuilding the fourth wall. Kids might not get it, but it's very wholesome. And available on Amazon.

3. Nine Years to Neptune

Here, animation means puppets.Yes, you read right. Brace yourself. They attempt a lot, and it mostly works. So, a space program sub contracted with an office supply company to colonize Neptune, nine years away. Obvious complications ensue. The diverse characters feel like a show from the seventys, and the jokes range from The Office to The Beverly Hillbillys. It's available on B.Y.U.T.V, though I reccomend small doses.

4. The Wingfeather Saga

Another show with alot to unpack. Taken from a series of novels, it tells the story of 3 children in a mythical kingdom, being threatened by a dark power. Which sounds simple enough, but it's filled with symbolism about morals, gender dynamics, ageism, and politics. Also, toothy cows. Adventurous fun for everyone, available on Angel Studios.

5. Batman: Caped Crusader

This may be the simplest show on the list. Fans will either love or hate it, while many will just be intrigued. The story has been told and re-told, but here, new blood designed familliar characters like you've never seen them before. Mostly the villians, but a bit of what they do as well. Enjoyable, if you're willing. Available on Amazon.

I hope that blessed you. If so, please consider buying a subscription.
